List of Upcoming Australian Scholarships 2027 for International Students
Australia has many scholarships, but the big government round for 2027 has already closed. That leaves university-based awards, which is where most international students will find funding now Below are the ones we could confirm from official university pages, plus a few things to check yourself. All dates were checked on 27 October 2026, and each university can change them.
#1 Sydney: Australian Government RTP (International) and USYDIS
This is for research students (mainly PhD) at the University of Sydney. The RTP stipend is AUD 44,293 per year at the 2027 rate, plus relocation and thesis allowances.
It also includes 100% tuition fees for up to 14 research periods and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). The University of Sydney International Stipend Scholarship (USYDIS) offers the same stipend and allowances to international students.
You apply for research admission first, then submit the scholarship form. The official page lists these deadlines:

- Research Periods 1 and 2, 2027: 11 September 2026 (already passed)
- Research Periods 3 and 4, 2027: 18 December 2026
- Research Periods 1 and 2, 2028: 10 September 2027
#2 Melbourne International Graduate Scholarship
This is for master’s students at the University of Melbourne starting in 2027 or later. You must be a citizen of a country with GDP per capita of US$10,000 or less, and you need an Overseas Fee master’s offer. Medicine, Dentistry, Optometry, Physiotherapy and Veterinary doctorates are excluded.
The award is a 20% tuition fee sponsorship for the whole course The page lists at least 300 awards. You don’t apply separately. If you have applied for a course, you are considered automatically, ranked by course entry score. You can’t combine it with another fee scholarship or sponsorship.
#3 Research Training Program (RTP) at other universities
Most Australian universities offer RTP places for research degrees. At the University of New England, for example, international students get tuition fee coverage plus Overseas Health Cover, and must study full-time and on campus.
The 2026 stipend there is AUD 37,746 per year. UNE’s 2026 round closed on 27 March 2026, so check your target university for its 2027 dates, because they differ.

#4 Australia Awards (closed for 2027)
The 2027 intake closed on 30 April 2026. The next round has not been announced. See our earlier guide for what it covers.
#5 Destination Australia (regional study)
This program funds international students at regional campuses The only official page we could read was from UQ Gatton and was written for 2024 (AUD 15,000 per year, up to 4 years). It is out of date for 2027, so check your regional university’s current page. Don’t rely on old figures.

- Each scholarship has its own rules, so check the one you want.
- Melbourne International Graduate Scholarship: citizen of a country with GDP per capita of US$10,000 or less, plus an Overseas Fee master’s offer.
- Sydney RTP and USYDIS: applicants for a research degree (PhD preferred).
- Australia Awards: closed for 2027.

ANU Chancellor’s International Scholarships and other universities’ awards came up in our search, but we only found third-party sites, not ANU’s own page. We have left them out until the university’s official page is confirmed.

Which Australian scholarships are open for 2027?
The Sydney RTP and USYDIS deadline of 18 December 2026 is the next confirmed one. Melbourne’s MIGS needs no separate application. Australia Awards has closed.
Can I get a full scholarship in Australia?
Research scholarships such as RTP cover tuition, health cover and a stipend. Coursework scholarships usually cover only part of the tuition.
Do I need to apply separately for Melbourne’s scholarship?
No. You are considered automatically once you apply for a course, if you meet the criteria.
Which scholarship should a master’s student look at?
Melbourne International Graduate Scholarship if you are eligible. Research master’s students can also check their university’s RTP.
Is there an application fee?
Not specified on the pages we checked. Check each university.
