France Scholarships 2027
France has several scholarships for international students, but the title “fully funded, no IELTS, BS, MS and PhD” promises more than the official sources support Here is what we could confirm, level by level.
The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship (Master’s and PhD)
This is the main French government scholarship run by Campus France According to Campus France’s UK page:
- Level: Master’s and doctorate
- Duration: 1 to 3 years
- Stipend: €1,200 per month for Master’s, €2,100 per month for doctorate
A third-party guide says it also covers flights to France and home, health cover, a free top-up health insurance, housing help and no registration fees at public universities.
The same guide says it doesn’t pay tuition, so check the details before you plan.

Who can apply
You must be a foreign national. Campus France says you aren’t eligible if you are a French citizen A third-party guide says Master’s applicants must not be studying in France at the time of applying, and that you must start your studies between 1 September and 30 November 2027.
Age limits (third-party guide)
- Master’s: 29 or younger (born after 31 March 1997)

Deadlines to watch
Each university sets its own earlier deadline. Nantes Université’s graduate deadline is 12 November 2026, and results are published from 12 April 2027.
A third-party guide lists other university deadlines between late October and November 2026, and a final Campus France deadline of 6 January 2027. Check your university’s page for the exact date, because some are only days away.
Other options
- Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s: study in at least two countries, with scholarships at some programmes. See our Erasmus Mundus guide.
- MOPGA (Make Our Planet Great Again): for researchers working on climate change and ecological transition. Nantes lists a deadline of 15 December 2026, and Campus France lists a postdoc stipend of €2,500 per month.
- Entente Cordiale: a 10-month Master’s scholarship at €900 per month (Campus France). It’s for UK-linked applicants, so check eligibility.

- Research body funding: CNRS, IRD and similar bodies fund some doctoral and postdoctoral places.
What about Bachelor’s students?
Fully funded bachelor’s scholarships for international students are rare. Campus France’s Major scholarship is only for students at French schools abroad (AEFE). Look at your university’s own scholarship page, and be wary of any site that promises a full bachelor’s scholarship in France.
“No IELTS” in France
France doesn’t have a single English test rule. Each programme decides. Some Eiffel pages ask for C1 in English, and others only ask for a certificate if the programme requires one. A programme taught in French may ask for a French test instead. Check each programme.

Government aid for students already in France
CROUS scholarships and housing aid exist, but non-European students usually need two years of residence and a tax household in France. State-guaranteed loans are also limited to people with a history of residence.
