#1 Italian Government Scholarships (Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
These are offered to foreign students and Italian citizens living abroad for study at Italian institutions. Applications for 2026/27 closed on 26 March 2026 at 2 p.m. (CET).
You apply only through the official Study in Italy portal, and the list of eligible countries is in each year’s call. We couldn’t find the monthly amount, duration, or study levels on the pages we read, so check the full call before you plan around this one.
#2 Invest Your Talent in Italy
This programme targets international students who want English-taught master’s and postgraduate courses in areas such as Engineering, Advanced Technologies, Architecture, Design, and Economics and Management. Selected candidates get a nine-month scholarship plus on-the-job training with Italian companies.

#3 DSU regional scholarships
DSU (right to university study) scholarships are funded by the regions and the Ministry of University and Research, and each region runs its own. At the University of Milan for 2026/27, full winners get a tuition fee exemption and free lunches, and partial winners get a 50% exemption.

#4 University scholarships

Eligibility Criteria
- Italian Government Scholarships: foreign students and Italian citizens living abroad, from countries listed in the call. The study must be in Italy.
- Invest Your Talent in Italy: international students applying for English-taught master’s and postgraduate courses in fields such as Engineering, Architecture, Design, and Economics and Management.
- DSU regional scholarship: you must already be enrolled and meet merit and income rules. Not for part-time students, repeating students, or those already holding an Italian degree at the same or higher level.
