Are You Looking For remote internship If you want to do an internship from home in 2027 there are real choices, and a few of them pay. Most remote internships are competitive and each one has its own rules, so it helps to know what you’re aiming for. Here are three programmes I could verify, with the key facts on pay, length and eligibility.
#1 Outreachy: Paid Remote Internships in Open Source
Outreachy runs fully remote internships in open source software and they pay a total stipend of USD 7,000. Each internship lasts three months, and there are two rounds a year May to August, and December to March.
It’s meant for people who face under-representation, bias or discrimination in the tech industry where they live The programme doesn’t give a fixed list of groups, so if that describes you, read the eligibility page and apply. Before you’re chosen, you spend a few weeks contributing to a project, so you get to see the work first.
The December 2026 round took applications in August, so it’s closed Going by the earlier schedule (the May 2026 round took applications in February), the next round might open around the same time in 2027, but Outreachy hasn’t announced it. Check outreachy.org/apply
#2 UN Online Volunteering
This one is unpaid, but it’s genuinely remote and open to a lot of people. You must be at least 18, and you can be from anywhere. Assignments last up to 12 weeks and take up to 20 hours a week When you finish, the host organisation gives you an electronic certificate of appreciation. You get no living allowance or other pay.
To join, create an account on the UN Volunteers platform (app.unv.org), use the filters to find online assignments and apply The organisation chooses its volunteers, so apply to a few. Each assignment sets its own skills, and the pages don’t say how long it takes to hear back.
#3 Google Summer of Code
GSoC is a global, online programme where new contributors work on an open source project for 12 weeks or more, guided by a mentor The programme’s page doesn’t state the stipend, the eligibility rules or the dates, so check the official site for the current year. One tip it gives is to talk to the organisations early, because that improves your chances before you submit a proposal.

What About Paid Remote Internships at Companies?
They exist but they’re advertised one by one on company career pages, and I can’t give you a list that’s reliable When you find one, check that it’s real. Search for the company, look at its official careers page, and never pay a fee.
How to Stand Out
- Pick a programme that matches your skills, and read the rules properly.
- Start contributing or building something small before you apply. It shows initiative.
- Keep a short portfolio or a GitHub page with your work.
- Apply to more than one programme, since all of them get a lot of applicants.
- Use clear English in your application, and keep it short.
